Had a long day today at KNC. Coached umpires the whole day. The weather was very kind to us. Shaddy most of the time :) I was thinking about the coaching today. How can I be a better umpire coach? From the way I talk? With the info I deliver and how I deliver it? Or are there some other ways and areas?
Yesterday I was coaching Hougang Sec. First time we got to use the Indoor Sports Hall because of the rain and hall was filled with seating after 'Os'. It was great! The rubber cushioned flooring. Wish I could play basketball or volleyball there someday. Didn't do much with the girlsactually. Only did some quick hands and feet. Then team drill with vision. And into positional plays in the circle after that. Was rushing a little introducing new plays to the girls but I hope they understood what was delivered to them. The session was pretty relax. Maybe a bit too relax. I shall make it a bit more intensive during the camp.
Had my last NCAP lesson on Thursday. Yay! And in the morning, my Coral girls was in a carnival. They surprised me with their performance in the carnival. First time in history they manage to win all their games and opponents score was zero. Means my coaching for pass few months was working. Really happy for it :) Hope the girls have more confident in their future games.
Conducted an umpire course earlier this week with Chris. Didn't have very good feedbacks from the participants. I guess it's because most of them are from secondary school. I guess we have to insert more interesting elements in it. Was thinking maybe I should do some slides with pictures and clips for the next course I run.
I was thinking of buying a video camera. It should be helpful to my coaching and umpiring. Shall I get one?
