Continuing My Story

My story telling time continues.

Ok. Secondary school. I was actually a very quiet person. Till now, I still am. I like to listen more than talk. And because of this, teachers will always think that I’m a good student. And at that time, I seldom mix with girls in class. Sorry to say this but it’s true, I don’t even know some of the name of my girl classmates. And during my school times, my allowance is like only twenty thirty ringgit a month. I can’t remember how much but it was really little. So, I rarely have snacks or tidbits. And everyday, my mum will make us food to take to school. At least other students envy me for having such loving mother. Haha…

So after SPM (O level), I applied for TAR College and Poly. I went to TAR College at KL for like a month before I was accepted into Poly. And I choose to study at Poly because the school fees are way much cheaper. I have three hundred ringgit allowance monthly for my first sem at Poly. All sem one students are given to stay in school unless you gave it up. I manage to save up some money despite that the three hundred is for everything. I bought my first hand phone with my savings then. And during weekends, I would travel from Shah Alam to KL to be with my brother and sister which is studying at TAR College. I’ll usually travel for like two hours with train and also with bus before I have my motorbike at sem three. I study mechanical engineering and there are no girls at all in my class. So, for those three years at Poly I didn’t really get to mix around with girls at all.
Sem two. I no longer stay in school. I stay with some other Poly friends at a rented house near school. Most of them are my classmates and we would almost do everything together. At then, I have five hundred ringgit allowance because of rental. But I didn’t think I was poor at that time. Maybe I was pretty happy with my life then.
Time flies when I was in Poly. Life is so routine, school, basketball, and weekends with my brother.
I did my sem four attachment at my hometown. It’s so great to stay home for that half a year after one and a half year away. Everyone else like my sisters and brothers are not home, but staying home with mum and dad was good.
I started to play volleyball when I was in sem five. From not knowing how to play at all to being the main spiker in just two months. I joined volleyball because of my best friend in Poly. We were classmate, housemate and also basketball teammate. Because that he also play volleyball, he ask me to play too despite not knowing how. And so, we would train every evening for the interpoly coming in two months. My job then was mainly jumping as high as possible and hitting the ball into empty space on the other side. I was a fast ball spiker because of my elevation and time I have in the air. It’s smooth sailing throughout the tournament. We manage to beat all the opponents with straight sets even in the final. According to my friend’s record, I only miss two spikes. One was saved by the opponent and the other I spiked out of court, the rest was converted to points.
I continue to play volleyball in Sem six and manage to get into Selangor team as a substitute player. That was only for one tournament before I graduate and have to return home. Though coach has asked me to train with the team but I couldn’t stay. How I really wish I can…
